About Divining Earth and Sky

Amy Tanzman Palmer

Amy was initiated as a stick diviner in the Dagara tradition in 2018. She was first introduced to the Dagara through a Kontomble voice divination in 2013. That profound experience changed the trajectory of her life as she eventually found herself walking the path to becoming a stick diviner.

Developing a loving, reciprocal relationship with the Wedeme and Kontomble (elemental beings of the wild and water), as well as her own lineage and ancestry, has given Amy the tools needed to assist others in their path towards healing and wholeness.
As a reiki master with over 20 years of experience in the healing arts, Amy has become certified and initiated into many healing modalities including: various therapeutic bodywork methods, astral lightwork, energetic rebalancing and Ayurvedic medicine. However, her most profound journey of healing and education began when she was “tagged” during a divination to become a diviner.

In this tradition, a diviner must be identified by the Wedeme (Elemental Beings of the Wild) as a person who has the necessary abilities to hold this medicine.  It is not something one may simply decide they want to do one day, it is indeed a calling.  Amy humbly answered the call of the Wedeme and began a long arduous journey to becoming a stick diviner in the Dagara tradition.  During her two years of walking the path to becoming a diviner, Amy cleared her own ancestral trauma and lineages, experienced deep healing through rituals and received an education into the spiritual ways and cosmology of the Dagara tradition.

The people of the Dagara tribe have generously gifted the people of the West their beautiful medicine and healing technologies.  Amy is very aware this is not her lineage and thus approaches this work with the utmost reverence, giving gratitude and acknowledgment to the people whose lineage it is, both living and non-living. Through working with her mentor, teachers and guides  Amy is still uncovering and healing her own lineages.

The information that Amy pulls through in divination is guided from 3 main places: her work within the Dagara tradition, her own healthy and clear ancestors and lineages, as well as from the land itself.  Amy would like to acknowledge the land on which she lives and practices her medicine as the traditional territory of the Southern Pomo and Graton Rancheria.  She is regularly checking in with the spirits of the land and those that came before to make offerings and provide healing.

As a medicine woman, Amy’s passion is to help people reconnect to the Earth and remember their role in Earth stewardship. Through this journey of reconnection to the Earth, her clients often discover their own medicine lineages and ancestors, who have long since been forgotten. Watching people step into their own unique medicine in this way is her greatest honor and joy in being a diviner.

Amy is a mother to a beautiful child who is by far her greatest teacher, reminding her to experience joy and magic in every precious moment of life.
