6 or 9 Shell Divination

Cowry shells are used by diviners as a tool to receive and decipher information from the Otherworld. Generally, two shells are used to answer simple binary questions. However, when a client would like a prescriptive ritual or a wider perspective on a single inquiry, a 6 or 9 shell roll is recommended. Since shells are part of the Mineral element, they hold memory and are beautiful storytellers. A set of cowry shells (either 6 or 9) is tossed onto a fabric and are then “read” by Amy to give a full and complete answer to the inquiry. Ritual for healing is often prescribed in this form of divination.
